Terezia: Mentalk312 Active Challenge

My dad would be 73 on the year of my challenge in 2024, the same year that we commemorated the 25th anniversary of his passing. He tragically lost his battle with mental health, which resulted in suicide. Losing my father was incredibly difficult, and I knew this year would be emotionally challenging. However, I decided to channel this into something positive.

Out of this pain, the Mentalk312 Challenge was born, and it has become one of the most impactful experiences of my life. MENTAL-K signifies the importance of communication, especially for men’s mental health. The number 312 comes from my father’s dream destination, 312km from where we lived. I took on the 312 challenge three times; as they say, the third time’s the charm in Hungary. I carried my father’s spirit on this endeavour, aiming to make a memorable impact supporting other men and their families.

The challenge itself had three parts, all of which were to be completed in 24 hours or less to raise funds for The Baton of Hope:

  • A total lifted weight of 312kg in squats, bench presses and deadlifts.
  • Swimming the 3.12km distance.
  • An outdoor bike ride consisting of 312km in total.

The total amount I raised during my Mentalk312 Challenge was £6,038.
