The Baton of Hope’s Inaugural Conference “Set New Standards”

Taking place in Sheffield, the conference focused on ‘Making Suicide Prevention Everyone’s Business’.

The Baton of Hope has been widely praised for the success of its first annual conference. Titled ‘Making Suicide Prevention Everyone’s Business’, the charity set out to issue a clear message that the subject of suicide was a matter for all of us to consider and to take a massive step in introducing a practical programme for employers.

Held in Sheffield at the Octagon Centre, the event exceeded the charity’s expectations and received wide acclaim for its organisation, the quality of its speakers and the atmosphere of compassion.

One of the keynote speakers was Alastair Campbell, the political strategist, broadcaster and mental health campaigner. In a live interview from the conference, he told the BBC: “What’s wonderful about this conference is bringing together some amazing people who are absolutely determined to strip away the taboo around mental health and to understand that we all have a role.”

The conference included a diverse range of subjects and speakers including award-winning consultant clinical psychologist Dr. Nihara Krause MBE and Mike Palmer MBE of 3DadsWalking.
