Take Action in The Baton of Hope’s Calendar Competition
Young people invited to share their visual masterpieces to be featured in our “Actions for Hope” 2027 Calendar
We are looking for young creative minds across the UK to take part in The Baton of Hope’s 2027 Calendar Challenge.
The “Pass the Baton: Actions for Hope” calendar will be our first-ever calendar, focusing on the ways people can take action to bring hope to others. The calendar will be available to purchase from The Baton of Hope’s online shop later this year.
We are inviting children aged between 5 and 18 years old to create an original visual piece of work that captures actions supporting positive mental health, connection, hope, kindness, resilience and community. Visual entries could include photographs, artwork, illustrations, paintings or mixed-media pieces.
Ideas for images could include the following, but these are only suggestions – The Baton of Hope team welcome entrant’s own interpretation of the hope through action theme:
- Acts of kindness and compassion
- Friendship and connection
- Community activities and support
- Nature, wellbeing, and outdoor spaces
- Creativity and self-expression
- Exercise, movement, and healthy habits
- Volunteering and helping others
- Inclusion and belonging
- Moments of hope, recovery, or resilience
- Everyday actions that make a positive difference
Each entry must include a short title for the creation and a 100-word maximum description explaining the image and how it relates to the theme of hope through action.
Parents, guardians and teachers must submit a child’s entry on their behalf through our online form on the button at the bottom of this page. They can also submit multiple entries, but they must submit one online form entry per child.
Entries will be judged on the connection to the theme of hope through action, creativity and originality, the entry’s positive and inspiring message, the visual impact, and suitability for inclusion in The Baton of Hope 2027 calendar.
Winners of our competition will have their entries featured in The Baton of Hope’s 2027 Calendar, plus they will receive recognition in the calendar for their work, a digital certificate and a copy of the printed calendar.
Mike McCarthy, Chair & Co-Founder of The Baton of Hope, said: “For young people who love to take photos, draw, paint or whatever visual creative medium they prefer, we want to encourage them to think about the ways they can create something special to help those with their everyday mental wellbeing.
“Getting young minds thinking about the ways we can help others, but also look after ourselves, is crucial and to do this in a way where children can take part in something exciting and create something that people can hang up in their own homes or classrooms up and down the country could make a huge impact.”
